Can someone learn English by joining an English speaking class?

Yes, 

This is a common question and frankly speaking everyone is confused! 

There are various opinions about effectiveness of joining an English speaking class. 

Some people believe that "learning grammar can help to speak English so yes, joining a class to learn grammar will help". On the other hand some believe that "no one can actually learn to speak English by joining any class".

I would say, both the sentences and statements are wrong! 

As a matter of fact in order to speak in English knowledge of English grammar is essential and no one can deny its importance; however merely knowing grammar can never help you to SPEAK in English. Speaking requires knowledge of words (vocabulary), knowledge of grammar rules, lots and lots of practice, confidence and above all someone to correct your errors. So, If a class is helping you to learn grammar; YOU would waste your money!

If YOU can get everything at one place then YOU should join such class! Once you find such place just explore that if they have separate courses for different levels or not?

If not; it means for them it’s a general knowledge sharing platform and they can't contribute in your own personal up gradation and so won't be able to fulfil your purpose of learning English! 

Then, YOU should ask if they have separate timings for separate levels or not?

If not then they would not be able to do justice with your learning needs.

Then ask, if they have any criteria for judging your performance regularly? 

If not, they won't be able to give you guaranteed results.

Then ask, if the faculty is different in every batch or not?

if not, you might not get the knowledge from a person who has capability to give results.

There are some common traps also-

1. Life time membership-

   Reality-   No one ever gets time to go to a certain place for a lifetime! Rather, it makes YOU relaxed and keep on postponing the learning with uncertainty 

2. Old and Experienced

    Reality- Not everything that is old is worth tasting!  Sometimes freshness helps more!

3. Cheaper-

     Reality- No offense but usually quality comes with a price and if you know the difference you should be ready to pay more to get some.
